The Under 9's Garry Lee Shield - 2nd Round

Abbeymead Rovers Gladiators v Hardwicke Rangers Yellows - Saturday 27th October 2007

Playing in their all blue strip, the Gladiators played away against Hardwicke Rangers Yellows. Suiting both teams the game started 15 minutes early with the home side with the downhill advantage. An early goal from Hardwicke set the mood for a tough match with Aiden Bonehill scoring the reply and Dominic Perris scoring from the rebound of a penalty. Shortly before halftime, Hardwicke levelled the score with a good team goal. Their strength down the centre of the pitch with some long high balls and some good heading took them into the lead in the second half scoring well twice. It was certainly an entertaining match with all corners of the pitch covered as the ball was passed well by both teams from end to end. Some good defending by Robbie Searle, Alex Fleming and Freddie Whittaker helped to control the game and not long before the end, Aiden Bonehill scored very well from an excellent pass from the right wing by Michael Assheton.
The Gladiators leave the cup after a good game having lost 3-4
