Severnside Utd 0 Abbeymead Rovers Hawks 8

Mid Glos Mini-Soccer League
Saturday 28th January 2006

Abbeymead started strongly and put Severnside under pressure from the whistle. Brodie Goddard-Jones was bossing the midfield and putting some excellent through balls to put the defence under pressure. This resulted in a series of corners taken by Ben Langworthy. The first was not dealt with which allowed Clayton Dee to score from close range. Two further Langworthy corners led to goals from Dee and Jamal Lawrence to put Abbeymead three up after ten minutes. Towards the end of the first half Severside had their first goal scoring opportunity which was well dealt with by George Hall in the Abbeymead goal. His long clearance then found Dee through on goal to complete his hat-trick.

In the second half Abbeymead continued to dominate. Passing well from the back with Elliot Obee and Elliot Basford in full control, Basford ran up the right wing and then crossed for Dee to score his fourth. Abbeymead's sixth resulted from Langworthy's throw in which was controlled by Lawrence and he turned to set up Dee for his fifth. Abbeymead's seventh came when the ball rebounded off a Severnside defender, and from the edge of the area Goddard-Jones scored a fine goal with a left foot drive low into the corner. Langworthy bundled the ball over the line but no goal was awarded - Abbeymead completed the scoring when Obee put through an excellent ball which Dee took in his stride and finished superbly past the advancing keeper.

Abbeymead Rovers Hawks 4 F.C. Highnam 0

Mid Glos Mini-Soccer League
Saturday 21st January

After just fourteen seconds Clayton Dee put Abbeymead ahead with a superb shot from a very tight angle. Abbeymead dominated possession but could not get a second. Brodie Goddard-Jones played a lovely one-two with Dee who fed Ben Langworthy who shot just wide. Highnam defended in numbers but broke quickly. Elliot Basford and Josh Cannon had excellent games in defence and had more action than usual. Joe Sligh in goal for Highnam had an inspired game and made an excellent save from Dee who turned and shot from close range.

The second half started the same as the first. Elliot Obee won the ball from the kick-off, fed Jamal Lawrence and his perfectly timed pass fed Joe Wilton to fire home. Highnam remained dangerous and George Hall had to pull off two fine saves to keep yet another clean sheet. At the other end, Sligh made a string of fine saves, the best being a double save from Goddard-Jones. Towards the end of the match Jamal Lawrence won the ball and burst clear to score a fine individual goal. In the last minute a Langworthy corner was not dealt with and Goddard-Jones headed home.

Abbeymead started the game well; with Ben Langworthy and Matthew Kent battling well up front. Sam Benzie played well in centre midfield, with Kieran Gittings playing well on the left of midfield, providing Langworthy with some good passes. Sam Benzie broke into the Highnam penalty area, and passed to Matt Kent. His shot was brilliantly saved, before Benzie followed up to finish what he had started. Jay Singhera and Danny Witcombe played excellently in defence.

In the second half, Highnam scored two quick goals through good play down the left, before Jay Singhera intercepted a goal kick and his chip just went over the crossbar. Highnam came back with two more goals down the right, leaving goalkeeper Danny Witcombe alone with two strikers to deal with.

Cheltenham Youth League - League Plate
Saturday 21st January

Abbeymead played this match with another bare seven, with players having to fill in different positions. They started the game off well, with some good battling play through debutants Cobie Ho and Danny Witcombe. Matt Kent kept Cleeve out with three brilliant saves, after leaving his normal position of right midfield to play in goal. He was finally beaten when a quick break left him with three attackers through on goal. Cleeve quickly made it three before Oliver Pritchett made an outstanding tackle on the edge of his own penalty area, and dribbled the ball to the edge of Cleeves penalty area before a shot just went the wrong side of the post.

In the second half, the majority was played in Abbeymead's half. Cleeve got some well-worked goals through the middle. Abbeymead created some good chances but Cleeve's attack proved too strong.

Abbeymead Rovers Hawks 2 Rodborough Eagles 0

Mid Glos Mini-Soccer League

Saturday 14th January

Abbeymead started very brightly and should have been three or four up in the first five minutes. Joe Wilton's cross should have been headed home by Clayton Dee and Dee was unlucky several more times. Brodie Goddard-Jones opened the scoring when he followed up his own shot which hit the post. Jamal Lawrence made it two just before half time.

Rodborough never gave up and became more dangerous on the break. Elliot Obee, Elliot Basford and Josh Cannon had to defend well and George Hall had to make more saves than normal. He was beaten once but Basford came to his rescue saving on the line. Ben Langworthy put over a superb cross to Wilton, whose shot hit the post. The Rodborough keeper made several fine saves to keep a one sided match close to the end.

Saturday, 14th January 2006

This was the quarter final of the cup and both teams gave 110% during the whole game.

The first half was end to end with excellent passing, running and tackling from both sides. The two defenses and goalkeepers playing at their best to keep the score 0-0 at half time.

Abbeymead kept their heads up well and created several chances with good runs and passing down the left and right wing. Cleeve's goalkeeper played well to keep Abbeymead out. Cheltenham Youth League
Saturday 7th January 2006

After a good Christmas and New Year the team were ready and played some good passing football. Adam Reade was causing difficulties with his usual strong runs down the left wing and soon slotted the ball in the back of the net to open the scoring. Saracens were kept on the back foot, but their defense worked hard to keep Abbeymead out for the rest of the first half.

Abbeymead started the second half well with Adam Reade picking up the ball in the box to drive home his second goal. Continued pressure from Abbeymead with strong runs from Alex Vye created many chances and Dan Lutman scored from a strong shot to finish the game.
