Abbeymead Rovers Hawks 4 F.C. Highnam 0

Mid Glos Mini-Soccer League
Saturday 21st January

After just fourteen seconds Clayton Dee put Abbeymead ahead with a superb shot from a very tight angle. Abbeymead dominated possession but could not get a second. Brodie Goddard-Jones played a lovely one-two with Dee who fed Ben Langworthy who shot just wide. Highnam defended in numbers but broke quickly. Elliot Basford and Josh Cannon had excellent games in defence and had more action than usual. Joe Sligh in goal for Highnam had an inspired game and made an excellent save from Dee who turned and shot from close range.

The second half started the same as the first. Elliot Obee won the ball from the kick-off, fed Jamal Lawrence and his perfectly timed pass fed Joe Wilton to fire home. Highnam remained dangerous and George Hall had to pull off two fine saves to keep yet another clean sheet. At the other end, Sligh made a string of fine saves, the best being a double save from Goddard-Jones. Towards the end of the match Jamal Lawrence won the ball and burst clear to score a fine individual goal. In the last minute a Langworthy corner was not dealt with and Goddard-Jones headed home.
