Stonehouse 1 Abbeymead Rovers Hawks 14

Mid Glos Mini-Soccer League
League Cup - The Gary Lee Shield

Saturday 2nd October

Abbeymead dominated this game from the first whistle. Clayton Dee could have had a hat-trick before Jamal Lawrence opened the scoring with a strong run and shot. Lawrence hit the post before Brodie Goddard-Jones got the second with an excellent long shot. Dee scored the third firing home from close range. The best move of the game with some excellent first time passing involving Dee and Lawrence ended in Joe Wilton volleying against the bar. Dee got three more before half time with Wilton and Elliot Obee with an excellent long shot completing the first half scoring.

Abbeymead made several positional changes in the second half and it took them a while to settle down. Ben Langworthy's quick throw in set up Jamal Lawrence for a cool finish. A lack of concentration meant that Elliot Basford had three Stonehouse attackers to deal with, which, for once he could not manage and the striker was through to beat George Hall in goal for the only time. Wilton set up Josh Cannon for number ten. The best goal of the game came when Goddard-Jones slipped the ball to Langworthy whose cross was fired home by Wilton. Dee set up Cannon for his second and Dee rounded off the scoring with two late goals to take his tally to six.
