Saturday 9th October
A strong start from Abbeymead kept the Cheltenham YMCA defence on the back foot for the first few minutes. Then a good attack from YMCA forced a corner, which was played to the back post and the volley was spectacularly saved by goalkeeper Sam Kent at his near post. Oliver Pritchet played brilliantly in the first half, providing good balls up to Joe Taylor who made some strong runs towards goal. Sam Benzie and Kieran Gittings played well in defence, with Tom Betts in front of them. In the second half, Ryan Smith came on in goal, with Sam Kent moving up into midfield. Towards the end, YMCA missed some chances and Jay Singhera and Sam Benzie played well, this time with Pritchet in front of them. The Eagles held on for a deserved draw and their first point of the seasons.
