Abbeymead Falcons 3 Churchdown Panthers 1 Abbeymead Falcons 1 Cheltenham YMCA 'A' 3

Cheltenham Youth League
Saturday 8th October

The Falcons made an excellent start to their first home game of the season, putting together some good passing football and creating several opportunities in an exciting first half. Eventually, the Falcons took the lead in the first half when Jack Boyce put Jack Ashmead through and Jack's shot was too good for the goalkeeper. Churchdown Panthers also contributed to an exciting first half by making a number of chances for themselves. In the second half the Falcons continued to apply pressure around the Churchdown goal and eventually added two further goals from Adam Reade, one from close range after a scramble in the area. Towards the end Churchdown applied pressure themselves and managed to pull a goal back but ran out of time before they could score again. An excellent game - well done to both teams.
Falcons Man-of-the-match: Adam Reade.

In the Falcon's second game Cheltenham YMCA 'A' produced a very strong performance and eventually ran out as worthy 3-1 winners. YMCA 'A' took the lead in the first half following a free kick outside the Falcons area. However, a good move from the Falcons on the stroke of half time enabled Daniel Lutman to slot home an equaliser and set up an exciting second half. In the second half YMCA 'A' continued to play good football and created several chances, which kept the Falcons goalkeeper busy. Eventually, YMCA 'A' went into the lead again following a well planned short corner, which the Falcons were slow to react to. Shortly afterwards YMCA 'A' added a spectacular third goal direct from a corner. Despite being 3-1 down the Falcons continued to play good football and created a couple of excellent chances but were unable to add to their one goal before the final whistle. Another excellent game - well done to both teams.
Falcons Man-of-the-match: Sam Ashmead
