Against bigger, quicker, stronger opponents, Abbeymead started really well. Alex Vye, Joe Wilton and Clayton Dee all had efforts on goal. The midfield of Ben Langworthy, Sam Benzie, Adam Reade and Jack Ashmead battled really well and never gave anything up. With only five minutes of the first half left a long clearance was met with a stunning volley leaving Matthew Sutton in goal no chance. Hesitation in defence led to another long shot and before they knew what had happened Abbeymead were two down.
In the second half Abbeymead continued to battle well - Max Harper-Emerson had a good chance and Josh Cannon's pace caused problems. At the other end, Sam Ashmead, Jack Boyce, Elliot Obee and Oli Pritchett defended well. However another two quick goals finished the game off - the first an excellent finish from a cross and the other an un-stoppable shot into the top corner. Sloppy defending led to the fifth but Abbeymead did not give up - the Ashmead's and Langworthy's attitude was superb.
