Forest Rangers 0 Abbeymead Rovers 'A' 5

Gloucester Youth League
Sunday 30th September 2007

Abbeymead started very brightly and immediately put Rangers under pressure - Alex Vye and then Ben Langworthy had good efforts well saved by Rangers player of the match - their keeper. After ten minutes a quick break out of defence saw Dan Lutman and Max Harper-Emerson combine well to set up Vye who scored with an excellent cross shot. Lutman and Joe Wilton forced the keeper into two more good saves before Jack Ashmead set up Harper-Emerson for the second. Vye then had a goal disallowed for offside and Jack Boyce had a great shot cleared off the line. In defence, Abbeymead were rarely troubled and Boyce, Elliot Basford, Sam Ashmead and Oli Pritchett dealt comfortably with any pressure, protecting George Hall in goal.

In the second half Abbeymead's pace continued to cause problems for the Rangers defence, with Josh Cannon and Vye both going close before Elliot Obee and Jack Ashmead set up Wilton to score from distance. Sam Benzie fed Harper-Emerson who set up Vye for number four and Langworthy's smart turn and pass set up Vye to complete his hat-trick and the scoring.
