Windsor Drive 1 Abbeymead Rovers 'A' 4

Gloucester Youth League
Saturday 23rd September 2006

This was an excellent game of football between two competitive sides on a good pitch and well refereed.

Abbeymead were very sleepy at the start but took the lead when Clayton Dee latched onto a long kick from George Hall and bustled his way through before finishing well. Indecision in defence meant that Drive got straight back into the game - Josh Cannon and Elliot Basford left a bouncing ball and the Windsor Drive forward finished well. Ben Langworthy fired just wide from a Brodie Goddard-Jones cross and then just before half time Abbeymead scored two quick goals. Goddard-Jones took a short corner to Cannon who passed back for Goddard-Jones to cross for Dee to head home. . Langworthy and Dee combined well several times without an end result. Dee then went on a run and set up Joe Wilton for the third.

The second-half was very even - Abbeymead pressed but Windsor Drive were quick on the break - Basford, Cannon and Goddard-Jones made tackle after tackle to keep Drive at bay and Hall had to make some important saves. Near the end, Goddard-Jones won an important header and set up Dee for his third which sealed the game. Wilton nearly added a fifth just on the whistle. Dee is in fine scoring form having netted seventeen times in the first five games.

Abbeymead Rovers 'A' 11 Forest Rangers 1

Gloucester Youth League
Saturday 16th September 2006

Within a minute Ben Langworthy opened the scoring for Abbeymead turning in a cross from Brodie Goddard-Jones. The same combination nearly doubled the lead a minute later when Langworthy glanced a header wide from a Goddard-Jones corner. Goddard-Jones got the second when he picked up a poor clearance and placed a lovely shot from distance. A delightful passing move starting with Elliot Basford, to Langworthy, to Clayton Dee and then finished by Joe Wilton to score number three. Forest Rangers got back in the game with a beautiful chip which gave George Hall no chance. Dee then took control of the game with Goddard-Jones setting him up for two before half time.

In the second half Hall saved a penalty before Basford put Dee through to complete his hat-trick. Jamal Lawrence had several good efforts go just wide and as Rangers pushed forward Hall made two superb saves before Wilton put Dee through for another. Dee scored yet again before being moved into defence. As Josh Cannon moved up to take his place he scored with his first touch. Basford was given a rare run up front and could have scored a hat-trick. Cannon got his second before Wilton wrapped up the scoring.

Abbeymead Rovers 'B' 0 Abbeymead Rovers 'A' 3

Gloucester Youth League
Saturday 9th September 2006

In the first league game Abbeymead 'A' faced Abbeymead 'B'. In an open game of football played in great spirit Abbeymead 'A' ran out three nil victors. The first half was very close - there were few chances at either end. For the 'Bs', Daniel Lutman's pace posed a threat but he was dealt with by Josh Cannon and Elliott Basford in defence for the 'As'. Just before half time, the 'As' took the lead when an excellent one-two between Jamal Lawrence and Ben Langworthy put Dee through to open the scoring.

Early in the second half Langworthy put Dee in on goal - Matthew Sutton, in goal for the 'Bs' came out and cleared the ball but, unfortunately for him it hit Dee who went on to finish. Joe Wilton created several opportunities before Lawrence's corner was superbly met by Dee for his and the 'As' third. Hall, in goal for the Hawks, was not tested and kept a clean sheet.
