Abbeymead Rovers 'A' 2 Windsor Drive 1
Gloucester Youth League
Saturday 2nd December 2006
This match started with some scrappy football from both sides in very wet and slippery conditions. Abbeymead made all the early running. Brodie Goddard-Jones made some penetrating runs from midfield and he very nearly set up Ben Langworthy who should have scored. From the resulting corner taken by Jamal Lawrence, Goddard-Jones headed Abbeymead into the lead with a fine header. Joe Wilton worked tirelessly on the wing in attack and defence and set up many chances. Gearge Hall had to make a good save from a free kick but his rushed clearance was not cleared properly and Drive scored an untidy equaliser. Elliot Obee and Josh Cannon had to at their best in defence as Drive kept pumping long balls forward to their lone striker and they were also quick on the break.
In the second half the best move of the game saw Dan Lutman put through by Goddard-Jones, he in turn sent Jamal Lawrence on his way and his precise chip put Abbeymead back in front. Lawrence had a superb second half and created many more chances but Abbeymead could not make the game safe. They hung on to claim a deserved victory.
